Wells House is voted a top family attraction
WELLS House and Gardens near Ballyedmond has been voted in the number four spot in the Top Ten Family Days Out in Ireland, right behind the country's leading attractions.
Wells House, reopened to the public just three years ago, and it received its family attractions ranking following an online public vote by customers of the ALDI supermarket chain.
Uli and Sabine Rosler said they were 'absolutely thrilled', 'delighted and taken aback to receive such recognition.'
'To come in after such amazing sites like Dublin Zoo, Tayto Park, and Fota Wildlife in our third year in business seems unbelievable but so rewarding for all the work we and our team have put in to allow Wells House and Gardens grow its reputation,' said Sabine. 'On behalf of everyone who works so hard, a huge thank you, and we look forward to welcoming both new and returning customers to Wells House and Gardens in 2015.'
She said that the income generated is reinvested in additional attractions. Work is starting shortly on restoring the parterre garden at the back of the house, to the original Daniel Robertson design. They've also extended the woodland walks, with a new 1.5km Mogue's Walk with educational elements, and they also extended the kitchen facilities last year.
She added that last year was a brilliant one for Wells House, with some families travelling from as far away as Limerick and Northern Ireland to see Santa at Wells House, and 500 people attending an open air performance of 'Sense and Sensibility' on the lawn in front of the house during the summer.
