Wexford Chamber of Industry and Commerce and Gorey Chamber of Industry and Commerce have both voted to amalgamate into a County Chamber, at separate extraordinary general meetings which were held last Thursday.

Members voted in favour of special resolutions which included the merging of their Limited by Guarantee companies into a single County Wexford Chamber.

New Ross Chamber of Industry and Commerce will hold its EGM on Thursday, April 11.

If New Ross members vote in favour of the resolutions, the amalgamation can be approved and a new County Wexford Chamber can be adopted and formed.

'We are delighted to confirm the outcome of the Wexford and Gorey EGMs', said a spokesperson, adding that the amalgamation process has been under discussion for some time.

'Wexford and Gorey Chambers are both looking forward to seeing the chamber movement consolidated across the county, a strong chamber that will be better able to serve the needs and interests of its members countywide', she added. Enniscorthy Chamber of Industry and Commerce has decided not to amalgamate with the other chambers, saying its members' interests could be best served by remaining independent at this time.
