Wexford blood donors honoured at special ceremony
Over 90 blood donors from across the South East Region were honoured for their long term commitment to blood donations at a special awards ceremony in the Seven Oaks Hotel, Carlow recently.
The presentations were made by Professor Anthony Staines, Chairperson of the Irish Blood Transfusion Service.
The Wexford donors hail from all over the county with clinics in Wexford town, Enniscorthy, Newross, Gorey, Bunclody and Rosslare/Tagoat.
The Wexford people who picked up awards were: Patrick Murphy, John Mooney, Paul Gardiner, Martin Nolan, Vincent Doyle, David O'Grady, Neil Matton, Patrick Jordan, Catherine Banville, John Elmes, Seamus Murphy, Francis Bennett, Richard Fortune, Susan Nash, Margaret O'Loughlin, Geraldine Kehoe, Brigid Doyle, Breda Cadogan and Geraldine Nolan.
Miriam O'Neill Area Manager with IBTS said the awards ceremony is an opportunity for the IBTS to acknowledge the tremendous contribution of these blood donors who over many years have been quietly saving lives by regularly donating blood. She thanked all the donors for taking the time to donate over the years.
