Wexford drug squad garda numbers significantly reduced
The number of gardaí assigned to the dedicated garda drug squad in County Wexford has been slashed from 11 officers in 2011 to just one, according to new figures obtained by Fianna Fáil.
The figures were released by the Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald in response to a Parliamentary Question from Fianna Fáil.
The cuts are particularly bad in this county, which has seen its garda drugs squad decimated over the three years.
Deputy John Browne described the cuts as disgraceful and said they were happening at a time of escalating drug crime in our communities.
