Wexford Garden trail explored in 'Nationwide'
WEXFORD tourism received some fantastic promotion last week in the form of RTE'S 'Nationwide' programme. .
Mary Kennedy and Anne Cassin explored the 'sunny south east' as they took on the Wexford Garden Trail. The trail has been billed as Ireland's largest and was launched by Gerry Daly at Marlfield House, Gorey in recent weeks.
Host of Nationwide, Mary Kennedy was suitably impressed by what she saw of Wexford, saying 'Wexford Garden trail really has it all, from private gardens to larger public gardens and gardens that were laid out centuries ago.'
Appearing on the show on the night were the Bay Garden in Camolin, Ballinkeale House in Ballymurn, Johnstown Castle, Colclough walled gardens at Tintern Abbey and Woodeville House in New Ross.
Anne Cassin also stopped off to sample some local Wexford produce from 'Kate's Farmshop', where she received a picnic basket full of goods from Wexford Cheese to the first of the infamous Wexford strawberries.
Details of all of the gardens on the trail can now be found at www.visitwexford.ie. The Trail has also its own website: www.wexfordgardentrail.com
