Wexford kids awarded for their community spirit at first children's fun day

By amy lewis

children from all across the county swarmed to Wexford County Council Headquarters last week for an afternoon of eco-friendly fun.

Interaction with the community was the theme of this year's Funday, which saw children living in Local Authority houses join with the Eco Kids superheroes to explore ways of getting involved locally. Along with talks on estate living and caring for animals, many of them also enjoyed getting their hands dirty at the hands-on planting demo and arts and crafts areas.

This was the first year of the kid's Funday, which is a revamp of the Council's Local Authority Residents Association Day. Always a popular event in the Wexford calendar, organisers at the Council's Housing Department decided to focus it entirely on the children this year.
