wEXFORD Marathon Man James Whitty from the Whitford House Hotel put in a great performance in the recent Connemara 100 ultra marathon road race.
james completed the 100 mile course in a time of 17 hours and 31 minutes, giving him a very creditable third place.
During what was a testing and challenging, hilly course in blistering heat, James was supported by a super crew of Garry Young, Neil O'Grady, Lorraine Mc Mahon, Cairan Bates, Dawn Kelly, Lee Savage and Emmet Burke.
james said a big thank you to all those who had supported him both during his preparation for the race and on the day itself.
Last year James, joined by members of Wexford Marathon Club, briefly joined The Sri Chinmoy Oness-Home Peace Run when it breezed through the town.
The peace run is one of the world's largest grassroots movements to bring people together. Runners carry an Olympic-style torch to over 100 countries around the world, and each year over a million people hold the torch, passing it on from hand-to-hand and sharing their hopes for a better world.
