Wexford Marine Watch were selected as Charity of the Week and received a generous donation of €1,000 from Lidl Ireland as part of the new initiative in the Lidl Community Works Programme.

Wexford Marine Watch have over 90 trained volunteers who help prevent the loss of life, as well as making people aware of the dangers of the water and provide assistance to anyone who may be in difficulty. Since the group's inception, nobody has lost their life through suicide in Wexford Harbour to date.

Lidl Wexford Store Manager Edgars Spoles said: 'Myself and my team in Wexford are proud to have selected Wexford Marine Watch as our Charity of the Week. Since setting up in December 2012, Wexford Marine Watch has become an integral support function in Wexford with its Suicide Prevention Patrols along the quays in Wexford.'
