The first Wexford Lifeboat Christmas Tree was officially turned on last Saturday by the crew of Wexford RNLI with a little help from members from the cast from 'A Quest Before Christmas' which is taking place at the National Opera House.

The tree, which was kindly donated by Killeens Service Station, features dedication baubles where people could insert the names of family and friends and is a reminder to all in the community that the volunteer crew are on call 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

Members of the Lifeboat Junior Crew, children of members of the lifeboat, helped also in the celebration. Speaking after the event, Lorraine Galvin of Wexford Lifeboat said, 'it was a lovely event to bring some Christmas Spirit to the station and we hope to grow the event next year'. The RNLI Shop a the Station is also open Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. with all profits going directly to the running of Wexford Lifeboat.
