Wexford writer Paul O'Brien this week signed a four-book deal with Skyhorse Publishing LLC in New York.

At the heart of the deal is the global rights for his 'Blood Red Turns Dollar Green' trilogy of novels which O'Brien self-published over the last couple of years. Since the first of the trilogy was released in 2012, the novels have become No.1 Bestsellers in Canada, Germany, Italy, UK, Australia, Mexico and the U.S.

Last Wednesday Paul's agent, Tracy Brennan broke the news of the deal, 'I am thrilled to announce that Wexford author, Paul O'Brien, has signed a publishing contract with Skyhorse Publishing in New York. Trace Literary Agency worked with executive editor, Cal Barksdale, in getting the deal for Paul's 'Blood Red Turns Dollar Green' trilogy.'

The crime novels have been making quite the reputation for themselves on the international scene, with a US TV developmental deal already in motion and Rolling Stone calling them 'one of a kind'. They've even managed to attract Hollywood's attention with 'Liar, Liar' writer, Paul Guay coming to Wexford in 2014 to launch Paul's third novel.

The Maudlintown author sounded understandably delighted with the deal.

'I wanted to wait until we had the right deal to move on,' the author said this week.

'These books are very important to me and I was in no rush to sign anything. But with Skyhorse, it all fell into place. I couldn't think of better publishers to come on board and to push these novels out into the world. I'm delighted.'

Things have been going from strength to strength for O'Brien over the last few years. He now has two US TV pilots in development, has begun work on WWE Legend, Jim Ross' autobiography, wrote and directed Corner Boy's new music video and is also finishing up his first movie which he is making with High Wind Media. in Wexford. 'I like to be busy, and I've made a deal with myself where I'm only going to do things that sound cool and frighten me a little bit. If they tick those boxes then I'm up for it.' 'Blood Red Turns Dollar Green Vol.1' is to be released summer of next year.
