Wexford's mayor says Wallace retweet is 'unconscionable'
WEXFORD Mayor Cllr. George Lawlor has lambasted the re-tweeting from Deputy Mick Wallace's Twitter account of a foul-mouthed tirade against Taoiseach Enda Kenny.
In the Tweet, Mr. Kenny's face is superimposed on an Irish dancer's image with the message: Pog mo thoin Wallace.
In a paragraph above the image, the tweeter apologises for his language, but goes on to use the 'C' word three times to describe the Taoiseach.
'To be re-Tweeting stuff that like that is not acceptable,' said Cllr. Lawlor, who expressed the view that said 'whatever about criticising someone politically, condoning this type of language and outburst is unacceptable, uncaring and unconscionable,' said the mayor.
Deputy Wallace was contacted through a spokesman, but did not respond.
The offending re-Tweet was taken down soon after it was posted late on Wednesday night, and came after the Taoiseach urged Deputy Wallace to don a set of headphones in the Dail so he could follow Leaders Questions which were being debated in Irish to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge.
