Woman terrified by fake garda car
BOOLAVOGUE woman Aileen Dempsey has spoken of her terror as her car was pursued along country roads last Tuesday night by a car which had blue flashing lights on its dashboard.
Ms Dempsey was driving from Boolavogue to Enniscorthy at around 7.40 p.m. when a red Ford Focus overtook her at Tinacross, Monageer. ‘It pulled in in front of me and slammed on the brakes,’ she said. ‘I passed them out but they kept on following.’ There were two men in the car.
‘They passed me again before White’s Hill and slammed on the brakes again,’ she said. ‘I was panicking at that stage.’
The car pursued her towards Enniscorthy. She pulled in at Mr Price outside Enniscorthy, and they turned off the blue lights and headed for town. She reported the matter to the gardaí.
‘If it’s lads messing, they need a good kick up the backside,’ she said. ‘I got some fright. I was absolutely shaking and I wouldn’t scare easily. It’s scary when you’re in the car on your own. It’s getting to the stage where people won’t stop for the guards.’
