AND THEN FORCED INTO PROSTITUTION
AN UNDERWORLD of abuse is being examined by Wexford-based immigration officers investigating human trafficking rackets in the area. The Wexford immigration unit in Rosslare Harbour, headed by by Sgt. Kevin Foran are investigating several cases where women have been trafficked into the county on bogus marriage scams, and then forced into prostitution.
Wexford Women's Refuge have witnessed first hand the shocking reality that women from Nigeria, Pakistan and Eastern Europe have found for themselves after being brought illegally into the country.
'One woman told me she was drugged while three men (sexually) used her,' said Betty Doyle, director of Wexford Women's Refuge.
Sgt. Foran said that the incidents of human trafficking is on the rise. 'People are being abused in the worst possible way,' he said.
