A former drug addict will be visiting Wexford later this month with his 'Walking Free' team, carrying the world's biggest 'syringe', to promote a message of hope, especially for those struggling with life-controlling issues including alcoholism, drugs addiction and eating disorders.

'The principles for recovery are simple,' said John,'most people need to recover from life. Life has damaged most of us in different ways.'

John, a recovered addict/alcoholic has had a liver transplant, has twice had cancer and has just successfully completed hepatitis C treatment.

With his team and the 33ft long syringe, he will be on the streets of Wexford town between March 26 and 29 as part of a tour of the UK and Ireland, engaging with local communities about the negative effects of drug and alcohol misuse.

Pat Murphy, from the Wexford Christian Community Church, said John has vast experience in this area and wanted to positively impact society through support and advice.

'John wanted to let people know that he will be willing and available to chat with anyone who has questions for him,' said Pat.

John, who once lived rough on the streets of London and overdosed many times, is based in Bradford in the UK, and intends to start an online recovery programme later in the year.
