A group of talented amateur artists made some big waves when they held their first major exhibition in Coast Hotel in Rosslare Strand, featuring 55 paintings of landscapes, seascapes, portraits, floral studies and still life.

Waves Art Group was founded in October 2017 by Anne Marie Kearns after she moved to Rosslare from Mullingar and was searching for an art circle to join.

She rented a room at Cois Barry Community House and put up posters around the village, inviting people to come along. The group now numbers 13 people including experienced artists and post-beginners who meet weekly on Mondays from 10.30 a.m. to 12.30 p,.m. Due to a lack of space there is a waiting list for new members.

A dozen artists participated in the successful week-long exhibition including husband and wife Vernon and Barbara Browne who are originally from the US and now living in Rosslare, and Gina O'Connor, Anne Greene, Caroline Ryan, Sue Gaynor, Hannah Jones, Anne Marie Kearns, Mary Blayney, Rose Colfer, Aileen Culliton and Eimer Tansey.

A large and admiring crowd turned up for the official opening and the paintings were very well received with a sizeable number of red stickers representing sales.
