THE 'unique and special bond' which Mayor Jim Allen says Wexford enjoys with the U.S. is celebrated in a new book published by Wexford Borough Council.

'Wexford: The American Connection' is the work of local historian and writer Liam Gaul and a production team including Mayor Allen; Town Clerk Pat Collins; Denise O'Connor-Murphy, who provided photographs from the Denis O'Connor Archive; council staff officer Katherine Mythen and graphic designer Niall Reck.

The A4-size book traces events from John Barry's founding of the American navy in the eighteenth century to the visit of President John F. Kennedy in 1963.
