Faythe ladies of 1978 reel in the years at 40th anniversary reunion
Pupils from the Faythe School graduating class of 1978 enjoyed an evening of reminiscing when they got together for their 40th anniversary reunion in The Swan Bar.
Organised by Esther Mahoney, about ten of the former classmates attended on the night with apologies from a few others who were unable to attend. The event was organised through social media and Esther said they hope to keep in touch that way and hopefully have another get-together in the not too distant future.
The group enjoyed an evening of nostalgia with one woman bringing an old autograph book from her last day in school and the ladies enjoyed reading back over the messages they had written to each other.
'There was a good mix of girls, some of us were and still remain friends while others were from different little groups but everyone enjoyed a good laugh. We were all from around the area so probably some had kids, and maybe even grandchildren going to our old school now.'
She said they hoped to get a copy of the old class photograph framed and presented to current principal Liam Turner for inclusion on the wall of past classw photographs in the school.
Esther expressed her thanks to Philip Dowdall and the staff in The Swan for their hopsitality.
