More than 70 students from Gorey School of Art presented their work at an end-of-year exhibition.

A wall of installation prints, drawings, and a wire sentence 'You're lucky if you get time to sneeze in this Goddamn phenomenal world', borrowed from JD Salinger's 'The Catcher in the Rye' by Heather O'Connor, summed up the academic year, according to school director Paul Carter.

The past year saw the opening of a new exhibition space, a new cinema and the introduction of a Level 6 Art Writing Course.

A group of Level 6 Advanced Portfolio students had the opportunity to exhibit in the new space, while upstairs Level 6 Documentary Film making and Photography students showcased their end-of-year documentaries in the state-of-the-art 4K Arthouse Cinema.

The exhibition, which was spread across two buildings, attracted a gathering of 400 people who viewed paintings, print, photography, sculpture, installation and documentary film.

The majority of students will progress to third-level courses in Ireland home and abroad while almost 20 will go directly into their second-year BA courses, such was the standard of their portfolios. Applications are already arriving for the school's four courses - Level 5 Portfolio Preparation, Level 6 Advanced Portfolio Preparation, Level 6 Documentary Film making and Photography and Level 6 Art Writing: Film, Literature and Art.
