Having a very merry Christmas in Tagoat
Residents of Tagoat came together for their first ever Community Christmas evening with a large crowd descending on the village for the official switching on of the lights.
Memorial ribbons were hung on a community Christmas tree and school children sang Christmas carols to get everyone in the festive atmosphere.
A new crib was also unveiled with the statues having been made by the children of Tagoat national school in 1994 with the help and guidance of Paddy Darrigan and Anne Heffernan of Wexford Art Centre. Santa Clause arrived in a convoy of tractors bedecked with Christmas lights and led all the assembled parents and children to the community centre where Mrs Clause was there to greeted everyone.
The children were treated to selection boxes and hot chocolate while the parents enjoyed mulled wine and mince Pies with tea and coffee.
'The committee would like to thank everyone for their contributions and their help in making it such a successful evening and we hope that next year will be even more delightful', said one of the organisers.
