A charity fundraising event has raised €4,500 for one of Wexford's most highly regarded community support organisations.

The coffee morning was held in November at Boggan's Shop at the Toyota garage on the Newtown Road.

However, the overall total has now been handed over to Wexford Hospice Homecare.

A spokesperson for the organisers expressed delight to this newspaper about the success of the event.

'The money was raised through the coffee morning and we also had a raffle leading up to the event itself,' said the spokesperson.

'We kept the raffle going for 10 days afterwards and we had some really good prizes so it was well supported,' she added.

The collection box was also left on the counter and as the spokesperson pointed out: 'People kept putting money into the fund which was really great to see.'

'People are very good,' she added.
