Jack L to play Festival gig in St. Iberius Church
MUCH-acclaimed singer/songwriter Jack L will visit St. Iberius Church for one very special night during Wexford Festival Opera. The event will follow on from the sell-out concert last June which included acts such as Mick Flannery, Lisa O'Neill and Wexford's Ian Doyle.
Jack L first came to prominence with the band 'The Black Romantics' in the summer of 1995. In 1997 he launched his solo career with a breakthrough in 1999 with the album 'Metropolis Blue', touring extensively in the U.S. and Europe. 'Metrolpolis Blue' was followed up with 2001's critically lauded album Universe. 2005 saw the release of studio album Broken Songs, which spawned the warmly received single The Man Who Couldn't Cry.
In 2008, he released Burn On, an album of Randy Newman songs, which boasted a performance with the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra.
Jack L was awarded the prestigious Edinburgh Spotlight Best Music Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2010 for his show "A Month of Mondays". He returned to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with his current show "Chez Jack" which earned him 5star reviews.
Tickets for his Wexford show are available from Whites for Music (053-9122067) and The Yard Restaurant (053-9144083) who are doing a special pre show meal. Book early to avoid disappointment.
