Presidents, leaders and Halloween was the theme for the Faythe National School when they held their annual Halloween Sponsored Walk on Thursday last.

School Principal Liam Turner said there were plenty of Donald Trumps, Michael D Higgins, ghosts and ghouls wandering around, before adding that he had been the butt of his staff's joke on the day.

'The SNAs said they were going to dress up as Cleopatras so I said I'd go as Caesar. When I arrived, in my sheet and gold leaf, they were all dressed as Eoghan Doyle, their colleague and captain of the Shelmaliers Football team!'

The event has run for many years and is a key fundraiser for the school. Mr Turner explained that they had made the guts of €5,000 which would go towards general supplies for the school.

The walk was enjoyed by all 295 pupils.
