Lecture on artist

MARY Stratton Ryan will give a lecture on the life and work of Wexford born artist, Francis Danby (1793-1861).

Art buffs will benefit from the discussion on 'plein-air' aspects of his well known work.

This talk has been specifically organised to run concurrently with the 200th anniversary of the fateful London trip made by Danby and his fellow artists James Arthur O'Connor (1792-1841) and George Petrie (1790-1866).

This anniversary is marked in Wexford by the launching of an award at the 5th Art in the Open Festival to honour Danby and encourage Irish landscape painting.

This lecture will take place in Wexford Town Library on Thursday, 2 August at 7p.m. For further details contact 053-9121637.
