There was evidence of the difference a little bit of community spirit can make at Stafford's of Tullicanna recently as organisers of the Tullicanna Music Festival gathered to present a cheque for €4,079 to MS Wexford.

This is the third year that locals have put together a summer festival for the cause and in total they've raised over €12,000.

Taking place back in July, this year's event saw a whole host of musical performers including Hot Asphalt, Meghan Hogan, John Walters and Friends, Blue Valentines, Jimmy Clooney and Friends and Wayne Hogan over the course of a great day. There was also a barbecue and a great crowd turned out to be part of it.

Ruby Murphy of Wexford MS was over the moon to be on the receiving end of the group's generosity.

'They are such a good bunch,' she said. 'There's no real connection to MS down there, these people just do it out of the goodness of their hearts. They've seen how much it helps us in terms of providing physio and yoga for our members and that type of thing.'

'We're absolutely delighted that they've chosen to help us again. We don't expect it and we're extremely grateful to everyone involved.'

As well as thanking all the organisers, performers and those who attended the event, Ruby was also keen to thank Robert Stafford for allowing the use of his premises for the festival.
