New Ross artist stages first Opera Festival exhibition
JOYCES OLD paint store on the Quay is the venue for a festival exhibition by Carmel Fenlon, a visual artist from New Ross .
A former pupil of the Loreto secondary school in Wexford and Good Counsel College in New Ross, she studied Art at Wimbledon School of Art in London where she received her BA (Hons) in Fine Art Painting in 1998 and an MA in Drawing in 1999.
She took up full time painting a few years ago after spending some time working as an art teacher.
She works mainly in oils as well as pastels, charcoals and pencil. Her subjects include portraits, landscapes and still life.
Earlier this year, she had a successful solo exhibition as part of Kilkenny Arts Festival and was commissioned by Kilkenny County Council to create a work for their own collection.
One of her paintings was selected for the Davy Portrait Awards in 2009 .
Her Wexford Festival Opera exhibition in Joyces old building on Commercial quay (beside Side Tracks restaurant) will run from Saturday, October 22 to Saturday, November 5 from 11 a.m. each day.
