Orchestra in Cowhouse at Johnstown Castle
AN ORCHESTRA in a cowhouse seems like a mis-matched arrangement.
But that is exactly what the Wexford Folk Orchestra has in store with a concert in the Cowhouse at the Agricultural Museum in Johnstown Castle on Sunday, July 22 at 3 p.m.
The concert is called 'Songs and Music of the Land' and will feature songs and tunes that relate to the countryside.
The performance will take the audience through the four seasons of the year with a mixture of song, music and recitations.
Stunning images provided by Wexford Camera Club will be projected during the concert.
The Wexford Folk Orchestra comprises 32 musicians who play a unique mix of traditional and folk music, songs and recitation.
Their instruments range from fiddle, banjo, bass guitar and accordions to whistle, flute, piccolo, spoons, percussion and keyboard.
The concert is the culmination of a project undertaken in collaboration with Aileen Lambert, a traditional singer and arts facilitator.
It is supported by the Arts Department of Wexford County Council through the County Wexford Community Arts Network.
Tickets at €10 are available from Only Natural health food store in Church Lane and can also be bought at the venue on the day of the concert.
The price will include admission to the Irish Agricultural Museum as wall as the castle grounds.
