The community centre in Oylegate provided the venue for a spectacular version of 'The Sound of Music' that had the audience enthralled from start to finish.

Rehearsals had been ongoing for the last couple of months and under the direction of director, Ray Quigley, the show was a great success.

The story is one of the most celebrated in theatre and film and is based on the real life story of the Von Trapp family singers who were one of the world's most well known concert groups just before World War II.

In Oylegate, Emma Hore performed the role of Maria Rainer, who becomes governess in the home of the widowed Captain Von Trapp and his seven children.

There was great onstage chemistry between her and Paul Darcy (in the role of Captain Von Trapp)

The level of detail in the show was incredible and in addition to its musical and choral aspects it provided the audience with a vibrant, colourful visual on-stage spectacle.

The level of work that goes into amateur productions such as this is amazing and the dedication and commitment of the hard-working cast and crew ensured that it was a production to remember.

The costumes were fantastic and the overall stage set was absolutely stunning.

It may have been an amateur show but the reception it received from the audience highlighted the fact its delivery it was as professional as it gets.
