Park After Dark Ghost Tour not for the faint hearted

IT WAS a stormy night on Sunday when I arrived to take The Park After Dark Ghost Tour, but it hadn't done too much to dampen the spirits of the group of excited girl guides that had gathered in the reception area of the Heritage Park and were cheerfully chatting about who is going to win the X-Factor.

However, the smiling faces did not last long and were soon replaced by expressions of sheer terror once the tour began and they had come into contact with the ghosts and ghouls of Ireland's past...and present.

First of all the group was brought into the Audio Visual room where we were informed by Paul Reck and Ben Hunt that the regular tour would not be taking place, and instead we were asked to assist in a government investigation into some very strange goings on in the Heritage Park.

A group of people had disappeared in the park and we were shown video footage from a camera found within the grounds that was believed to belong to the missing people. The videos showed some spooky goings on indeed and we were informed that Paul and Ben believed it to be the work of a Banshee.

After this we went out into the park to undertake our investigation. Paul and Ben told the group of various old Irish legends of all things supernatural including Banshees, Fairies, Werewolves, Vampires and Ghosts and including such stories as the well known tale of Loftus Hall.

The walk around the Heritage Park was filled with lots of startling and spooky occurrences that will have you jumping out of your skin. The combination of spooky stories, which are quite interesting and also educational, with strange goings on around the park make for a great family experience.

However beware... it's not for the faint hearted! The Park After Dark Ghost tour runs from the 28th of October until the 4th of November, so if you think that you're not easily scared, give it a go if you dare!
