When Irish MMA fighter Richard Kiely takes on American opponent Michael 'Venom' Page in front of an anticipated 9,000 audience in Dublin's 3 Arena on September 27, he will walk out to the music of Wexford musician Ronan Furlong.

Ronan has a new EP 'The Nebula' just released on the Thoroughbred Music label and a new album called 'Diotima's Ascent' due to be launched in early September with the first track from that 'The Silver Torc' specially chosen by Kiely as his signature music.

The single is due to be publicly released on August 16 while an accompanying animated video for the song 'Hades Nebula' which was made in India, will follow about a week later.

The video with a storyboard by Wexford animator Ben Hennessy, was produced by the writer, film maker and producer D Varma in Hyderabad Raasta Studios in Telengana, southern India.

The front cover of Diotima's Ascent was painted by Wexford artist Jasmine Smith. The 3 Arena airing means some welcome international publicity for the Wexford musician who is a partner in PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) by day.

Ronan lives in Crosstown with his wife Siona and their children Oisín, Ronan and Aisling.

'Venom' is regarded as one of the best fighters in the world and the upcoming Dublin fight has attracted a lot of international attention.

It will be shown on a number of television channels in the US (Paramount and DAZN) and Sky Sports and Virgin Media in Europe.

Richard, an entertaining character who is active on social media has been a supporter of Ronan's music for some time

'I'm a huge fan of Ronan Furlong's music and I'm honoured that he allowed me to use his song for my walkout music', he said.

'This fight is arguably one of the biggest to ever be held on Irish soil so I needed a song that would match the fierce energy and fervour that the Irish crowd bring.

'When I heard The Silver Torc I instantly knew I'd found that song. As soon as the opening chords hit, this song will blow the roof off the 3Arena. An absolute belter of a tune. I'm very excited to hear it rocking 9,000 people in the venue.'

Ronan's previous album Minerva's Meddling was rated by Hot Press magazine as one of the top 20 albums of the year in 2017, coming in at number 18, a chart topped by Robert Plant.

The musician has a unique style all his own. A former student of the famed Mexican guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabreilla, he uses his impressive talents as a guitarist to enhance and complement his songs, mixing instrumental guitar with idiosyncratic lyrics and heart-felt performances. His live performances are always energetic and eclectic.
