Rosslare the place to be for fun weekend

The Kilrane / Rosslare Harbour Tops community weekend will take place on the weekend of July 20, 21 and 22 in and around the local area.

A family event, there will be plenty to keep kids and adults alike occuppied. On Friday, July 20, there will be an opening parade with marching bands, cartoon characters, local teams, groups and organisations, the RNLI, good bags and plenty of surprises. The parade will end at Hotel Rosslare where there will be music, games, balloon modelling, a puppet show, face painting, and a hunt for prizes.

On Saturday, July 21, at midday, there will be a selfie treasure hunt starting at the Memorial Park wit great prizes. That evening, at 7.30 p.m. there will be a hotly-contested barrell rolling competition on Top of the Bank with a tropy for the winning team. That night, the inaugural Lip Sync Battle will take place with participants dressing up to mime their favourite songs - the person with the most votes wins.

On Sunday morning, at 10.30 a.m., there will be a crab fishing competition at The Lagoon with prizes in five different categories. This will be followed by the Blessing of the Boats at noon. The Village Fair in the Memorial Park starts at 2 p.m., and will feature stalls, bouncy castles, hook a duck, facepainting, tea and cakes, raffles, teddy stall, bottle stall, pongo, soccer shootout and Milk the cow.

There will be live music by Lee and Fitzy, and a hog roast/barbecue in the Railway Social Club. The winning entries from the children's art competition will be displayed in the club hall all weekend.

The Rosslare Harbour Maritime Heritage Centre will display the Irish Continental Lines 50th Anniversary Exhibition along with other interesting exhibits from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
