Tickets have gone on sale for a National Opera House show by West End performer and Rosslare native Aileen Donohoe celebrating the music and movies of America's sweetheart Doris Day on Friday, April 11.

A Date with Doris which spans more than 30 years of the star's career from the big band era to the golden age of Hollywood, premiered in 2014 with sell-out shows in Wexford Arts Centre, the National Concert Hall, Dublin, Cork Opera House and Mill Theatre, Dundrum. Th one-woman show features classic songs such as Que Sera, Sera, On Moonlight Bay, Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps and iconic hits from the Wild West's most fearsome heroine Calamity Jane.

Aileen Donohoe studied at Trinity College, Dublin and later at the Royal Academy of Music, London. After roles at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and the Royal Festival Hall, she performed for five years in the smash-hit musical Wicked at the Voctoria Apollo Theatre.

Other West End credits include Disney's Beauty and the Beast and Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty's Theatre, London. She performed the lead role of Donna in Mamma Mia at The Point, Dublin as part of the show's first international tour. Now based in Wexford, Aileen teaches voice at the Wexford School of Music, the Irish College of Music Theatre, Dublin, Dublin Institute of Technology and American College, Dublin. With her husband Pete, she founded Music Maestros at Wexford Arts Centre and has performed with Wexford Light Opera Society in Chess, Evita and 9 to 5. 'A Date with Doris' was written and directed by Brendan Cull, writer of Monster Bride and Sleepless in Seattle and a cast member in top West End shows. West End musical director Robert Scott whose recent production of Mack and Mabel with Michael Ball was performed at The Bord Gais Energy Theatre, will accompany Aileen on piano with his own original arrangements of Doris Day's song collection.
