South End singers launch CD
SINGERS from Wexford town's south end will launch a CD on October 11.
Mayor of Wexford Davy Hynes will do the official honours at the launch of the CD by the Southend Community Choir at St John of God NS in The Faythe at 7.45 p.m.
The Southend Community Choir was established over a year ago to provide an opportunity for local people to come together and use their singing and musical talents, as well as sharing them with each other and with others.
It certainly has achieved these aims and also provided a social outlet by the participants over the winter months.
Undaunted by the snows of last December, the choir remained on track and then continued to rehearse over the spring and summer of this year, also visiting Kerlogue Nursing Home where they preformed for the residents. Other visits are planned in the coming months.
As part of developing the choir, Wexford musician Ian Grey came on board and earlier this year and under his guidance the choir has recorded a CD of their favourite songs.
The choir is made up of a group of local men and women and their family members and friends from the local community are very welcome to attend the launch of their CD.
