One of Ireland's finest performers is bound for Wexford and this year's Spiegeltent Festival. Sinead O'Connor is set for a special performance under the big top of the Spiegeltent Paradiso on October 24.

Having courted controversy in the past and carrying her fair share of scars, O'Connor has emerged from the other side and after four years off, she is ready to return to the stage.

Among Ireland's most famous exports, Sinead is an artist beyond comparison. Unique, uncompromising, a pioneer and a visionary are just some of the descriptions that have been placed beside her name over the years and she's enjoyed a whole range of chart-topping singles, hit albums and major awards.

Never overly far from the headlines, Sinead endured a turbulent and troubled period before finding solace in Islam and renaming herself Shuhada' Davitt. Having spent some time trying to recover from the mental health problems that have plagued her career, she now says she is 'feeling really good' and is ready to get back to music.

While obviously the songstress is best known for early work such as her iconic cover of Prince's 'Nothing Compares 2 U', 'Mandinka' and 'The Emperor's New Clothes', her more recent output has thrown up quite a few gems too such as 'Take Me to Church', '8 Good Reasons', '4th and Vine' and 'The Wolf is Getting Married'.

The Wexford show promises to be a great opportunity to get up close and personal with one of Ireland's most accomplished and controversial performers. Tickets are priced at €45 and go on sale at 10 a.m. this Friday.

The Sinead O'Connor announcement comes off the back of confirmation that Wild Youth will take to the Spiegeltent stage on October 26. Having sold out a headline show in the Olympia the band have enjoyed some pretty major support slots with the likes of The Script, Mumford and Sons and Westlife at Croke Park.

Tickets for Wild Youth are priced at €22 and tickets for all shows are available through or from their Main Street box office.
