Stage is set for the sixth annual Leo Carthy Weekend
Having become a staple of the annual festival calendar, the stage is set once again for the Leo Carthy Weekend in Our Lady's Island this weekend.
This is the sixth year of the festival and organisers are promising that it will be as big as ever.
The fun gets under way on Saturday night with the eagerly anticipated Variety Concert in Our Lady's Island Hall at 8 p.m. With the likes of Danescastle Music Group, George Lawlor, Emma Hore, William Troy, Brendan Wickham and Friends, Intro Music Group and Lee Bennett on the bill, along with the always hilarious Ballycogley Players, it looks set to be a night to remember. Admission is €10 on the night.
For those of a sporty persuasion, Sunday kicks off with a 6km fun run at 12.30 p.m. Registration is from 11.30 a.m. at the Community Hall and the cost of entry is €10 for adults and €5 for kids.
There will be plenty of kids entertainment and live music on site afterwards with an open air stage that will host the Ballycullane Mummers at 2 p.m. followed by Theresa & The Stars.
Among the kids entertainment planned is an obstacle course, bouncy castle and face-painting, as well as the return of the much loved sheep racing, with the first race at 3 p.m.
All proceeds raised from the family weekend will go to the RNLI, Irish Heart Foundation and various local voluntary groups.
