The dancers at the Wexford School of Ballet and Performing Arts are busy putting the finishing touches to their Christmas ballet for this year, Tchaikovsky's classic 'Swan Lake'.

The ballet will be staged for one night only at the National Opera House on December 15 at 8 p.m. Already, the tickets have been moving quickly, with just a handful of seats left.

The powerful ballet tells the story of a prince named Siegfried who falls in love with the swan princess, Odette who is a swan by day, but a young woman by night. She is under a magic spell that can only be broken by love.

Leading the charge on this year's production is new teacher and former student of the school Sorcha O'Connor, who trained professionally in London in the renowned Laban College. The ballet features some dark and exciting choreography with the black swan corps.

The leading role of Siegfried will be danced by Alex Saunders while Abby Ormond steps into the dual role of Odette/Odile.
