There was double reason to celebrate for one local couple as they marked their 30th wedding anniversary in addition to one of them turning 50.

Séamus and Geraldine Walsh, from Ferndale, were joined by a large group of family members including their five children and four grandchildren for a special party in Culleton's in Whitemill. Like many people of their generation, the couple met at a disco in the Unyoke Inn and have always lived in Wexford.

Geraldine is from Liam Mellows while Séamus is originally from Taghmon. In addition to celebrating their anniversary, for Séamus the night had extra significance as he was also celebrating his 50th birthday.

It was a great night out following which the couple spent a couple of days away in Kilkenny.
