There was a fundraiser in Whites Hotel on Friday last to help raise money to house homeless man Chris Russell.

Chris is a well known homeless figure around Wexford town and often stays in a tent on Forth Mountain. Organised by the Wexford Daddies the fundraiser was to raise money to help Chris pay the rent on a house that the organisation has secured for him.

Eddie Phelan of Wexford Daddies said he hopes to have some positive news in respect of Chris by the end of the month.

Legendary hurler Eddie Keher threw his support behind the cause and a number of local people were more than happy to help Eddie and the Wexford Daddies out.

Music on the night was by Wrecking Ball and they proved a big hit with everyone there.

Eddie said he was disappointed with the turnout on the night but said that January is a tough time to hold a fundraiser.

Two couples Sylvia and Noel Travers from Barntown and Keith and Debbie Walsh were presented with special awards recognising all the efforts they have made on behalf of Wexford Daddies.

Wexford Daddies was set up by Eddie Phelan to help people cope with a crisis in their lives. While it was initially established in the run up to Christmas Eddie, seeing the need for the organisation throughout the year, has continued his Trojan work into the New Year.

To donate contact Eddie on 085 7714393.
