Members of Wexford Drama Group gathered in the Bottle Bar at T. Morris with friends and family to launch their upcoming season of plays.

The launch was performed by Beat 102/103 presenter Shonagh Lyons whose dad Phil is an actor of longstanding with the group.

Phil was MC for the evening and also performed a beautiful poem that he penned himself.

Deputy Mayor of Wexford, Cllr. Maura Bell congratulated the drama group and wished them well in their new season of stage performances.

Also in attendance were the directors and casts of the three plays which will be presented by Wexford Drama Group in the coming months.

John B. Keane's classic 'The Field' is directed by Andy Doyle and is the group's opening play, running at the National Opera House from August 1 to 3 and 8 to 10.

In October, the group will present the Carol Long-directed play 'Shush' by Elaine Murphy, at Wexford Arts Centre.

Paul Walsh will take the helm as director of 'Closer' by Patrick Marber, the group's entry in the All Ireland Drama circuit.

Wexford audiences will get a chance to see this play at Wexford Arts Centre in early 2020 before it travels to compete in drama festivals nationwide.
