Wexford Has Talent returns with 'golden ticket' to final
The fifth annual Wexford Has Talent competition is back, with the first round of auditions taking place in Clayton White's Hotel on January 13.
In recent years, winners have included: music act Fit for Kings, gymnast Tara Doyle Robinson, Seventh Fret music group, and singer-songwriter Rachel Grace. The competition is open to all ages and all manner of talents. Entry is free.
This year, a few new elements have been added to the competition.
Chairperson of the organising committee, Killian Duignan explained: 'We will be accepting video auditions for the first time for all of those who can't make it along on January 13. We understand the difficulties for bands and music groups especially, to attend on the day so we are introducing this option to help as many potential acts as possible.'
However, live auditions are still preferable and the organisers have come up with a novel way to encourage this:
'One lucky competitor who performs on the day in Clayton Whites Hotel will be selected by the judges to go straight through to the 2019 Grand Final as a 'Golden Ticket' selection. We have a steadfast reputation for seeking out, celebrating and rewarding top class acts and new talent and we are urging those who have perhaps always wanted to take part but may not have joined us yet for some reason to come along and try out.'
Over the last four years, 650 Wexford Has Talent auditions have been hosted, 192 live performances have been showcased with audiences totalling 6,500.
For 2019, the two semi finals will take place on January 19 and February 16, with the Grand Final taking place on March 9.
Free audition places can now be booked in advance through wexfordhastalent.com or competitors can turn up on the day to queue for an audition time.
