Pots of festive cheer in Kilmore at Christmas!
Kilmore Quay is the talk of the county at the moment, with the community down there having put an extra special effort into Christmas this year.
Somewhat thinking outside the box, locals captured the imaginations of people from all over Wexford as they unveiled a massive, lit-up Christmas tree made entirely from lobster pots.
Taking pride of place outside the Stella Maris Centre, the huge colourful creation has seen people travel from far and wide to take photos and spread the festive cheer.
This is only one of the wonderful Christmas creations on display throughout the village too. A space-age Christmas tree decked out in lights near the slipway is another fantastic addition and those passing through may also have noticed specially made reindeer, a sleigh and a Christmas train installed at various points around the village.
The creation of this winter wonderland has been a pet project of Kilmore Quay Sparkles group, which was founded to 'spread a little sparkle at Christmas time'.
The amount of work put in over the past couple of months was evident as a large crowd gathered for the official switching on of the Christmas lights.
With performance from the local children's choir, hot chocolate, mulled win and a visit from Santa and Mrs Claus themselves, there was a wonderful festive atmosphere on the night, with plenty of activities for young and old at the Stella Maris Centre.
'It's been a wonderful community effort,' said local councillor Jim Moore.
'A massive amount of work has been put into this by the Kilmore Quay Sparkles group. They've hosted fundraising coffee mornings, table quizzes and various other events in recent months to get this up and running and they've really engaged the whole community.
'The fact that so many people turned out for the big switch-on is a real credit to all the hard work they put in.'
