Taghmon-Camross and Adamstown will have to do it all over again after they played out a nerve-wracking draw in the Permanent TSB New Ross District Junior B Hurling Championship final in Cushinstown on Saturday evening last.

In a game that swung back and forth, without either side every getting away, it took two dead-balls from the high scoring T.J. Codd in the second half of extra-time to finally see the contest to a replay.

As well as finishing well, Taghmon got off to a cracking start. Codd was on the board inside three minutes only for John Connors to respond in kind. Still, three more scores from dead-ball specialist Codd ensured that his side ended the first quarter 0-4 to 0-1 ahead.

Just when Taghmon looked set to get up a head of steam, Andrew French found the net for Adamstown. Codd and Pauric O'Gorman did put their team 0-6 to 1-1 in front after twenty minutes but it wouldn't last for long.

Instead, Adamstown finished the half on the front foot. John Connors split the uprights with a pair of frees before Shane Bradley gave his club their first lead of the evening in the 26th minute. After late dead-balls were successfully traded, Adamstown went in 1-5 to 0-7 ahead at the interval.

Codd added three more after the break as Taghmon snatched the lead right back. However, a twelve minute spell without a score soon followed for his club. James Delaney registered and the sides were deadlocked for the seventh time (1-7 to 0-10) at the end of the third quarter.

Connors brought his tally to eight as Adamstown edged two points clear with five minutes of normal time left but Codd held his nerve with a brace of late dead-balls to send the game to extra-time (1-10 to 0-13).

Codd cancelled out a Connors free early in overtime but when Delaney raised his second white flag of the evening, in added-time at the end of the first period of extra-time, Adamstown held a 1-13 to 0-14 advantage.

Yet they couldn't add to their tally after the change of ends and Codd, registering his second free of the period as time expired, ensured the sides would have to do it all over again.
