Castletown captured the ladies' football Premier Minor title on Saturday in St. Patrick's Park as the Gorey District side went on a goal-scoring rampage.

Castletown 10-6 Kilmore 4-7

Castletown played with the wind in the first-half and got off to a great start, with Amy Wilson scoring 3-1 in the first ten minutes.

Kilmore hit back with a goal and a point from Chloe Troy, as she moved from the defence into attack.

Kilmore were struggling to contain a rampant Castletown attack and the midfield area was also going the way of the girls in maroon.

As the first-half drew to a close, Castletown then struck another three goals.

Caoimhe Roche hit the first from play before Castletown were awarded two penalties. Both were converted brilliantly by Amy Wilson after Doireann Kavanagh and Amy herself had been fouled en route to goal.

Kilmore responded again with a goal and a point from Cathy O'Connor, and her side was unlucky not to have another goal but Chloe Troy saw her effort rebound off the post.

Caoimhe Roche clipped over the final point of the opening half for Castletown as her side headed to the dressing-room leading by 6-2 to 2-2.

Castletown soaked up early pressure from Kilmore in the first five minutes of the second-half, and the killer blow to any comeback came when Lauren Cousins fouled Doireann Kavanagh in the square again to give away another penalty, a foul that also resulted in a sin-binning for the Kilmore starlet.

Amy Wilson converted the penalty in style again. Castletown were well on top at midfield, with Hayley Murphy scoring a great goal which was quickly followed by points from Doireann Kavanagh and Sinéad Gaynor.

Kilmore did not give up, however, and they battled away and kicked a fantastic 2-5 in the last 15 minutes as Emily Bates, Ellie O'Connor, Cathy O'Connor and Sophie Tierney struck points while Chloe Troy and O'Connor added the goals.

Castletown were awarded a fourth penalty and yet again Amy Wilson converted calmly after Cailin Fitzpatrick had been fouled as she was about to pull the trigger. Juvenile Amy Wilson finished with an incredible 7-2 and is certainly a name to watch out for in the future.
