Congratulations to the Clongeen girls who travelled to Croke Park recently to take part in the national blitz day for the Gaelic 4 Girls.

Clongeen were the only Wexford team to participate in this event. Because of the large number of players involved, Clongeen were able to enter two teams.

There was over 1,500 girls playing in total. The girls played teams from Tipperary, Derry, Cork, Roscommon and Sligo to name a few.

Upon arrival the players all received packed lunches. They got to meet various county stars and received their medals on the pitch in Croke Park. After a fabulous day the players all received goody bags before leaving the stadium.

The first team was made up of Philippa Coleman, Veronica Delahunty, Ellieanna O'Grady, Katie Kehoe, Aoife Breen, Rosie Smith, Lauren Cullen, Eabha O'Dwyer, Zenya Mullins, Elizabeth Whelan, Megan McDonald, Hannah O'Grady, Amy Doyle and Grace Donovan.

This team played five mini games and had a fantastic result of four wins and one loss.

The second team was made up of Róisín McCormack, Keela Daly, Abbie Casey, Caoimhe Gardiner, Sarah Bennett, Orlaith Butler, Savannah Blake, Atlanta Blake, Emma Whelan, Katelyn O'Grady, Hayley Sinnott, Kate Mythen, Theresa White and Rachel Bennett.

This team also played five mini games and had a fantastic result of four wins and a draw.

Both parents and children had a day to remember. A big thank you to Sinnott Transport, Gaelic 4 Girls organisers, all the mentors, parents and families and especially to all these young, talented players on such an achievement.
