Reigning All-Ireland Post Primary Schools Junior 'A' football champions Good Counsel (New Ross) qualified for the final for the second year running with a convincing 14-point win over Rice College (Westport) in Duggan Park, Ballinasloe on Saturday, March 21.

Good Counsel College (New Ross) 4-9 Rice College (Westport) 0-7

The key score of the first-half was an injury time goal from Gavin Sheehan which left the Barrowsiders with a 1-6 to 0-3 interval lead.

Two more goals in a five-minute spell early in the last quarter from Sean Nolan and Luke Sinnott left Counsel out of sight, and Thomas O'Connor crowned another day to remember when he added the fourth with seconds left.

Now the focus switches back to the Senior footballers who will meet Roscommon C.B.S. in the All-Ireland semi-final on Saturday, March 28 in St. Conleth's Park, Newbridge.

Scorers: Thomas O'Connor 1-5 (0-4 frees, 0-1 '45), Luke Sinnott 1-1, Gavin Sheehan and Sean Nolan 1-0 each, Andrew Walsh, Darragh Lyons and Jamie Myler 0-1 each.
