Dub Brennan part of the Barntown camp
Glynn-Barntown will be hoping to create history with a little help from the script of All-Ireland champions, Dublin.
Most of the time we hear so much about managers and the role they play in a side's success or failure. Well, for Glynn-Barntown as they attempt to win their second Senior football title, they have entrusted much in the hands of former Dublin centre-back, Ger Brennan.
The St. Vincent's clubman was once an influential player in the Dublin set-up before being forced to call a halt to his inter-county career.
Certainly he has been an influence on the Glynn-Barntown players whose game has snowballed in the knockout stages of the championship. Their season early on had been underwhelming but the influence of Brennan has brought so much change to the table.
Brennan will now take his final training session with the Glynn-Barntown players this Wednesday evening. While nothing in Glynn-Barntown's summer pointed to a Senior football title, Brennan has changed all that around and they are now confident of bringing a performance that would beat Gusserane.
All of which means that Brennan is a fresh young voice in the coaching and managerial merry go-round. Should Glynn-Barntown bring the same qualities to the final as shown in their semi-final victory, Brennan could yet emerge as a contender for the vacant Wexford post.
