Good Counsel celebrations

A master class in finishing from centre forward Thomas O'Connor powered Good Counsel to victory over St Brendan's of Killarney in the Masita All Ireland Post Primary Schools Junior 'A' football final in Clonmel.

Good Counsel 2-12 St Brendan's Killarney 3-7

O'Connor hit 2-6 including penalty goals in the 25th and 33rd minutes as the New Ross school retained the title they won at the same venue last year.

Brendan's trailed by 1-9 to 2-1 at half-time although goals from David Spillane and Mark Harnett kept them in touch with wind advantage to come.

However, O'Connor's second penalty goal drove Counsel on and they led by ten points at one stage before a late Brendan's revival.

While the Kerry lads scored an unanswered 1-4 in the last eight minutes, with the goal from David Clifford, it wasn't enough as Counsel - also the All-Ireland Junior 'A' hurling champions - were left celebrating.
