Gusserane gain points

Brendan Furlong

A goal in each half proved decisive as Gusserane eventually emerged with a deserved six-point victory over Horeswood in this Enniscorthy Electrical Wholesale Junior hurling championship Group B game in O'Kennedy Park, New Ross, on Sunday.

Gusserane 2-13 Horeswood 0-13

By the 20th minute Horeswood when wind assisted had built a 0-6 to 0-2 lead mainly through the accurate free-taking of Michael O'Hanlon, but after Páraic Conway found the net from close range seven minutes before the break the sides went in level (1-4 to 0-7) at half-time.

Very little separated the sides through the third quarter, at the end of which Gusserane led by 1-10 to 0-12.

After Adrian Flynn found the net with a close-range finish, Gusserane remained in control until the end, emerging with a comfortable enough six-point victory to leave them with three points.
