Increase in staff costs questioned

GAA Convention 2016

The increase in office costs were referred to by Rapparees/Starlights delegate, Maria Nolan, at the annual county convention.

Referring to the increase in office costs, she asked for a detail as to the staff costs which were up €40,000 approximately, while Postage & Telephone increased by some €5000.

County Chairman, Diarmuid Devereux, said staff costs reflected three things. Having received additional funding from Wexford County Council this resulted in additional coaching support.

He also said that the costs reflected a full year's salary for the Ferns Centre of Excellence caretaker, while there were also salary adjustments for their accounting technician.

Mr. Devereux also informed delegates that the full time secretary role will come to an end next year when they will have a voluntary secretary.

In the year's accounts following that they (costs) will be reduced by some €50,000, as a consequence of that.

Still taking everything into account salaries are still considerably lower than in 2010.
