David Kenny and Niall Maher secured the first two semi-final spots in the GAA Handball Wexford 60 x 30 Junior singles as they both had comfortable wins in the quarter-finals during the past week.

Kenny from Castlebridge got the better of Kilmyshall player Pádhraic Roberts on an impressive 21-2, 21-12 scoreline.

Roberts' Kilmyshall team-mate, Maher, fared much better however as he was too strong for Templeudigan's Tony Breen, prevailing 21-8, 21-2.

Two of the quarter-finals of the Junior 'C' singles also took place in the past week.

Paddy Curran from St. Martin's beat Frank Maddock from Taghmon comfortably 21-2, 21-6, and there was a similar dominant performance in the second quarter-final as John Connors from Coolgreany was in awesome form in defeating Dara Cloake from Castlebridge 21-2, 21-6.

It was a case of family matters in the Over-35 doubles as James and David Stanners from St. Martin's were the winners over the O'Neills, Alan and Seamus, on a 21-16, 21-9 scoreline.

John Bail from Castlebridge was very impressive in knocking Mylie Byrne from Ballymitty out of the Diamond Masters 'B' singles, with the driving instructor giving the lessons out in a 21-10, 21-9 win.

Meanwhile, Gavin Buggy travelled to Minnesota during the past week and came away from the American adventure with the United States Masters (40+) singles title. Only a few weeks after taking the USHA National Masters (40+) singles title in Portland Oregon in May, Buggy won his second title on foreign soil in an impressive run of good form.

Over the past weekend he dominated from start to finish in a grade where he was far too strong for his American counterparts.

Gavin opened his challenge with a 21-6, 21-9 win over Sam Sottosanti, before backing that up with another fine win, this time taking down Michael Benkelman on a 21-5, 21-0 scoreline.

Logan Foley was the final man to feel the wrath of Buggy's Irish whip which can confuse the American players, and he was cast aside 21-4, 21-9.
