Laois and Longford drawn in club series
We're on the home straight for Christmas, with just 22 weeks to go to the end of the year!
Another sure sign that autumn isn't as far away as we think is the announcement of the draws for the AIB Leinster Senior club championships which were made by the provincial council at a meeting on Thursday.
Whoever wins the Pettitt's hurling championship will be on the favourable side of the pairings as they will meet Laois away in the quarter-final, with the Carlow or Westmeath reps. awaiting.
The football route looks tougher, with the Tom Doyle Supplies championship victors facing a journey to Longford, and the winners set to take on Meath in the quarter-final. The full draws are
Hurling: Offaly v. Dublin, winners v. Kilkenny in semi-final; Carlow v. Westmeath and Laois v. Wexford, two winners to meet.
Football: Carlow v. Laois, winners v. Kildare; Longford v. Wexford, winners v. Meath; Offaly v. Wicklow, winners v. Westmeath; Louth v. Dublin.
The dates and venues will be fixed by the Leinster G.A.A. C.C.C. in due course. On the local scene, championship action will resume on the August Bank holiday weekend with round three of the football, and the fourth round will follow on the week ending August 9.
Round four of the hurling is then pencilled in for the week ending August 16, and the Under-21 hurlers will be in All-Ireland semi-final action against either Antrim or Derry on August 22.
